So yesterday afternoon I was not so surprised to find out we were having another boy. I was expecting it since I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago. You see all of my sons have had heartbeats per minute between 130-145 never higher. My midwives have an unofficial, ongoing study about bpm and gender. The study shows that roughly 80% of the time at 12 weeks gestation 150 bpm and lower = boy and over 150 = girl. When the nurse at the hospital clocked baby in at 140 bpm I started really preparing myself for the reality of 4 boys under 5 years of age. Their future athletic director should thank me now :) So I guess we are going to have our own personal FFA chapter; no not future farmers of America (although I would love that for my sons) but future fathers of America :) So let the ER visits for lacerations and broken bones continue (otherwise there would be no fun to be had!) Getting all of them to adulthood alive will be my biggest accomplishment.
On another note my due date has been pushed forward to August 20th. While I know I'll be miserable by then, the chances of my husband being able to drop everything and attend the birth greatly increases the further away we get from July (frantic combining). And since Josiah was two weeks early and over 8 pounds, it's safe to say that this boy will come securely in August. Which is also good because John and Jacob are July birthdays along with 9 other family members!
I thought the name for the this boy was hammered out, but John didn't expect to actually use the name, so now for the first time we don't already have the first name picked out. If you have any ideas the criteria is this: has to begin with the letter J, has to be biblical, cannot end in an "ah" sound, and cannot begin with Jo. Picky, I know. I never thought I would have to come up with so many boy names so quickly!

Too much energy!
I wish I could post that I am the one with having too much energy, but I am referring to my 3 active boys. On rainy days like these I wish for a human hamster wheel to wear it out of them. I think it could be easily installed in my garage... maybe even power the house!
Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks this of my brood, sure lots of people tell me at the grocery store or walmart "Wish I could bottle that energy for myself!" but the comments today took me by surprise. For my WIC appointment today I had aunt Juli come watch over the boys because she was hanging out at the academy building just a mile from my house. When I walked into the bilingual office the lady, whom must see hundreds of women and children monthly, proclaimed "Oh, no boys today? Those guys are the biggest balls of energy I've ever seen, the older two just jumped up and down the whole time last time, remember?" Of course I remembered but I was surprised that my little family left such an impression. She didn't know why I was in today until she looked at my paperwork and saw that I was applying due to my pregnancy, she was very surprised, not rude, but eyes wide asking how far apart the last two will be. Surly she must see lots whom are closer together than 16 months! Anyways, when we were done she said, "Wow, that sure went a lot faster!" It was a little awkward, but at least she wasn't telling me about how naughty they were and how I need to take parenting classes...

And on the 8th day HE created sports
January and February was monumental for our family. Our first child participated in his first sports season, the first of approximately 42 in his lifetime.(not counting on college, but that would be awesome!) 1 down 168 to go! (4 children x 3 sports a year (min.) x 14 years) I've been waiting for this since jr. high. Huh? you ask, well I disliked math with my whole heart and I asked all of my teachers trough the years all of the time how this will apply to my life in the future, you know, being a "soccer mom". Really nothing past the 7th grade has been used, I knew it was just a waste :) ANYWAYS I know I have a biased opinion but Josh was just plain 'ole impressive in his first basketball season; all but his jumping jacks, can't seem to get the arms and legs going opposite directions just yet. Pee Wee basketball is for 4-6 year olds to learn the basics put on by college students through the Monmouth/Independence YMCA. He understands the game really well, in fact that lead to many-a-tears to his fellow teammates. You see, Josh knows what defense is and how to play it, so when they first were scrimmaging he would strip the ball from the offense and take off towards the opposite hoop, traveling immensely but he got the idea. After making him apologize to his sad opponent on several occasions, he learned that until he gets bigger defence is just having you hands up like your going to take it away form them, but don't actually do it yet. He averaged about 2 successful hoops a practice in shooting drills and scrimmages. Although it was only 1 hour twice a week for two months, it was definitely the highlight of his winter months... and the beginning of my "soccer mom" journey!

Anniversary
Well, today we've been married 6 years, and we celebrated by having a hot date all alone in the Silverton Hospital. On Wednesday I started having flu like symptoms and by that night the fever kicked in and wouldn't break. So after an appointment with the midwife Thursday morning she gave me a list of things to do to get my core temperature down and if they didn't work to come into the hospital. So 1:30 am today we went in and they were able to bring me just below 100 degrees and came home around 5 am. So I'm sitting here listening to Josiah talk to himself in bed while hubby and older boys get to go to Jesse's semi-final play off game at Gill. But with John's air card in his new work laptop I can listen to the radio commentary over the web, not the same, but considering I get dizzy and lightheaded when I get up to go to the bathroom, it's the wise (and un-fun) thing to do. I wrote a poem for John I'm hoping to finish to give to him, I'll post it later. Oh, and at my midwife appointment the secretary was like "lets set up your ultrasound date" and I told her that I already had one and showed her my date card, so she called up and low and behold someone didn't do their job. Ahem. So now I have to wait until I'm 22 weeks on March 30th. I can't hardly handle it. I broke down crying telling the secretary "I have 3 little boys at home, I cannot wait much longer!" She obviously hasn't had such an experience because she just rolled her eyes. I know I'm being dramatic but it was like a scenario form a bad dream.
